    Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate self-efficacy, communication ability, problem-solving ability, and factors influencing the problem-solving ability of nursing students. The results showed that 38.3% of the problem-solving ability of the nursing students was explained by their communication ability and self-efficacy. This suggests that further studies should analyze the effects of communication skills and self-efficacy found to serve as predictors of nursing students’ problem-solving ability. It is also suggested that systematic and institutional approaches should be taken to implement a range of programs designed to improve nursing students’ problem-solving ability based on the assessment criteria of the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing, apart from the need for further studies on their effects.
